Abstract

This case describes a 33-year-old patient with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) following stimulation for in vitro fertilization (IVF), presenting with abdominal pain, jaundice, dyspnea, and edema. OHSS is an uncommon complication affecting patients undergoing fertilization treatments. Its severe forms can lead to renal and respiratory failure, and in extreme cases, death. The importance of this case lies in the need for close monitoring of ovarian stimulation procedures in IVF to prevent complications. Likewise, investing in studies on OHSS is essential for improving treatment protocols and early detection, thereby optimizing clinical management and reducing risks to the patient’s life and reproductive capacity.
